Control Engineering & Mechatronics Laboratory
The Control Engineering and Mechatronics Lab is situated in two different rooms in this building. The Process Control Lab is part of the Chemical Engineering Lab, and is used by students taking control theory in the Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments. The equipment includes level-flow, temperature, pressure, pH, and motor control stations. Students familiarize themselves with the equipment and design new experiments. Laboratory groups consist of students from each of the departments. In the mechatronics and controls laboratory, students build small-scaledune-buggy type cars for the mechatronics curriculum. It involves a kitfrom Feedback Control Systems, Inc, which the students assemble and wiretogether. Computers are available to download the programs onto theboards, allowing the students to auto-navigate the buggies.Students also work on the current ASME competition in the same space. Our goal is to participate in the ASME Region II Design competition eachyear. There are also students working on various projects in MechanicalEngineering, including a Battlebot and a hybrid electric tricycle.
